Fieldwork
Several members of our group conduct palaeontological fieldwork, exploring rocks of different eras and in different countries. At the moment, most fieldwork is related to a long-term project in the Cenozoic of Venezuela, supported in the past among others by the National Geographic Society. It concerns the palaeobiology of vertebrates in Venezuela mostly around 20-2 million years ago, including the time around the formation of the Panama bridge between South and North America. We have recently extended our work to Pleistocene and early Holocene sites preserving megafauna and human cultural remains.
