Outreach and Press Coverage
The results of our research and outreach is many times covered by different media, here some examples:
Our group is much involved in outreach activities we organise, including also those coordinated through the Natural History Museum UZH (e.g., Lange Nacht der Museen, Seminar series for the public) and our Faculty (Science Pavillion). We have a track-record of production of different media to reach the public, such as an animation on the results of work on the early ray-finned fish Saurichthys, mammalian organogenesis (in 6 languages) or a video on the Great American Biotic Interchange prepared by Juan Carrillo for TED-Ed. We have published on educational/outreach matters, as in our examination of Attenborough and Grzimek documentaries. We recently participated in the special exhibit ‘Oltre Terra’, conducted by Formafantasma and commissioned by the National Museum of Oslo, focused on the history, ecology, and global dynamics of the extraction and production of wool (PDF of ‘interview’).
We have prepared museum exhibits and major publications aiming at outreach.
We have greatly collaborated to extend and optimize the exhibits at the Museo de Paleontología of Urumaco, Venezuela, in the region where our group conducts fieldwork regularly with local colleagues.
Our lab participated in the writing on this richly illustrated outreach book for Colombia ('Hace Tiempo'), the first of its kind, which can be downloaded here: Hace Tiempo
